The Shanghai Dragon Boat Association founded in December 2008, is the only provincial/city level Dragon Boat Sports organization. Its main task is to actively organize, carry out and coordinate Dragon Boat activities, propagate the culture of Dragon Boat.  And draw out the developing plan, management methods, and competition system of the Shanghai Dragon Boat sports, which will be put into practice with the approval of the department of administration of Shanghai City. And organize training course, hold exchange sessions on Dragon boat sports. And promote and propagate knowledge of the Dragon Boat Sports. And help the development and increase the popularity of the Dragon Boat sports.

During the first year, after the hard working, the SHDBA was growing normatively, scientized and healthily. Lead from Shanghai Sports Bureau and Shanghai Administration Bureau of NGOs, support from China Dragon Boat Association and Shanghai Sports Federation, The SHDBA was well developed in organization establishment, member growth, service and education, movement and communication. The SHDBA help following district, colleges, industries to develop all kind of Dragon Boat Sports and competes. And cooperated with other related party, the SHDBA hold the well-known China International Sport Festival, Chinese Dragon Boat Compete-"2009 World Chinese Dragon Boat Challenge Race", the Forum of Dragon Boat Culture and City Development, and organized the first Shanghai Citizens Dragon Boat Tournament, the creation and gradual formation of the SHDBA's own activities in the Dragon Boat Brand. After the SHDBA was established, it has contacted with world wide 17 different Dragon Boat Association and Yangtze River delta area and extends the reputation. The SHDBA will continue to work hard and make effort for Dragon Boat project in Shanghai City.
